Orofacial Harmonization
What is Orofacial Harmonization?
Orofacial harmonization is a set of aesthetic treatments that includes different techniques for filling the face in order to provide more balance between the volume, shape and angles of the face, promoting rejuvenation.
Using a wide range of procedures and products, such as the application of fillers like hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin – Botox, support and biostimulation threads and injectable vitamins, it is possible to correct facial asymmetries, improve proportions, make fillers and guarantee a rejuvenated appearance of the facial region.
This set of treatments seeks to correct imperfections or enhance personal features while always respecting the natural shape of each patient’s face. Facial harmonization is not just about delaying or treating the consequences of ageing, but also about balancing the facial thirds, both vertically (frontal plane or from the front) and horizontally (sagittal plane or profile).
Orofacial Harmonization techniques allow us to create a symbiosis between dental treatments and the tissues that support the perioral region, which are an integral part of the patient’s smile. As well as helping with function and creating well-being, this type of procedure has a very significant impact on the patient’s self-esteem.

Hyaluronic Acid
The use of biodegradable substances such as hyaluronic acid to fill deep furrows and expression wrinkles accentuated by age is currently a very effective method.
Its injection redefines the shape and contour of the face and lips, increasing volume and tone in areas subject to a natural ageing process, restoring a more youthful look to the face.
Treatment using aesthetic and therapeutic injectables also has a preventative effect as it stimulates collagen production and water retention in the tissues.

Botulinum Toxin
Throughout life, the normal contraction of facial muscles leads to the development of wrinkles that tend to get deeper and deeper, especially in the forehead, around the eyes, lips and neck.
The infiltration of small doses of botulinum toxin – Botox – at the right points prevents the activity of acetylcholine, the substance responsible for muscle contraction, which results in the absence of the formation of these marks and wrinkles and provides a more youthful appearance without altering the expression of the face.
In cases of immediately loaded implants, treatment of the masticatory muscles with botulinum toxin reduces muscle strength and helps prevent fractures. It also makes it possible to correct asymmetries and smiles with high gingival exposure.
In cases of temporomandibular dysfunction, it may be necessary to use botulinum toxin infiltration to reduce the hyperactivity of the masticatory muscles in order to prevent dental fractures and provide relief from orofacial pain. The effect of botulinum toxin lasts a maximum of 6 months on average.

Faq
It varies and depends on the activity of the muscle. On average, hyaluronic acid is metabolised in 12 to 18 months and botulinum toxin is metabolised in 4 to 6 months.
After infiltration with botulinum toxin, do not massage the infiltrated area or adopt a horizontal position for the next few hours. After injection with hyaluronic acid, exposure to the sun and heat should be avoided.
